Albert Omstead was honored by having his name included in the “In Memoriam” tribute at the end of episode 7 as a tribute.
The premiere episode also featured an In Memoriam piece to honor the late actor Ed Asner, who portrayed Johnny Lawrence’s dad Sid Weinberg.

Do You Know the Identity of Albert Omstead?
Omstead worked in the Camera and Electrical division and helped to produce 21 episodes of Cobra Kai.
The sad crew member passed away on July 19, 2021, as a result of an accident that happened at his home. Omstead has worked on a broad range of other popular series and movies in addition to Cobra Kai, including as Spider-Man: Homecoming, Stranger Things, and The Walking Dead.
On the Death of the Professional, the Omstead Family
Omstead’s family said in a public statement that the professional died as a result of an odd incident that took place at his house in the form of an unexpected wall collapse.
Scott Wachtel, the crewmember’s brother-in-law, spoke to 11 Alive about the tragic incident and said, “The garage door was closed and there was a van parked right here (in front of the garage), so he couldn’t run this way (towards the garage), he couldn’t run this way (away from the garage), because the rest of the wall was collapsing over here, so he had nowhere to go.”
“Our world would be in a very different position right now if he had gone out there five minutes earlier or five minutes later,” Wachtel continued.
